Okay, so I've veered off the road that I was on all last week exploring Asian-American r&b groups once again. I'll get back on it sometime in the future, as I now would like to focus my attention on some other kind of music as well as more blog visitor requests. Although I wouldn't say that the obscure Canadian duo known as ORGANIZ' (I believe it's just pronounced 'organize', except for the stylized spelling) is in an entirely different neighborhood than INNERLUDE, INNERVOICES, KAI, SOUL MILITIA and all of the other boybands whom I've featured lately. ORGANIZ' is completely new to me. Their name came up in a short list of related artists while I was causally looking for information about a French r&b group called POETIC LOVER, and when I saw that they were pegged as sounding similar to the French boyband ALLIAGE, whom I've previously featured here, it had let me to believe that ORGANIZ' were also French. In fact, there seems to be very little information available about these two guys; maybe by French buddy RV can fill in the missing pieces? Meanwhile, their 1999 debut album, "Preview" (at least I think it's their debut) is another beauty to add to the music collection. Listening to the intro at the beginning, you might assume that ORGANIZ' is a strictly hip-hop group, but as you move through the rest of the album, you'll quickly see that hip-hop is just one of the music styles they incorporate into their music. There's straight-up pop, a touch of retro disco (like on the cover of Stephanie Mills' "I Never Knew Love Like This Before"), some r&b (like on "Friend Or Foe" and "Tired To be Alone") and even a little bit of rock as well (check out "Cash Nexus"). It's a very eclectic mix, and most of the songs include a healthy dose of rap in the lyrics. And I must give some mention to the vocals of this Canadian duo. One, I would say, sounds like a rugged, high-tenor version of Barry White while the other is more of the silky-smooth variety like an R. Kelly or Brian McKnight, alternating lead vocals throughout. My favorite songs to take from all of this are the two slow jams at the very end—"Give Me A Reason" and "Confession". So, if this album was indeed intended to be 'sneak preview' of better things to come, I surely would like to see the complete feature presentation:
1. Organiz' [Intro]
2. Can We Talk About It?
3. Good Luv
4. I Never Knew Love Like This Before
5. Freak Someone Like Me
6. Friend Or Foe
7. Tired To Be Alone
8. Cash Nexus
9. Are You Ready?
10. Only For The Sex
11. The Things U Would Do To Me
12. Baby Baby Baby
13. Give Me A Reason
14. Confession
