John Schneider-John's Acoustic Christmas (2009)

ORIGINAL POSTING DATE: December 24, 2017

My third holiday album of the day also happens to be a fulfilled long-standing request from a long time ago; now's a perfect time for it, wouldn't you say? Actor John Schneider is surely best remembered for his role on the 80's television series, "The Dukes Of Hazard".....except I myself don't remember hardly anything about the show nor the character he portrayed at all! Although just mentioning "The Dukes Of Hazard" show does bring back waves of television-watching nostalgia from when I was a kid. Television roles and acting aside, I further had been completely in the dark about John's singing career—that is, up until his early-career album releases was brought to my attention. So here we have his second collection of holiday recordings—released nearly three decades after the release of his first one all the way back in 1981—and they all come in an acoustic guitar variety. There's a very special intimacy about acoustic guitar music—you get to hear the singer's voice all crisp and clear—and that's what makes this particular batch of traditional favorites even more special, namely "Silent Night", "Away In A Manger" and "O Holy Night". And he makes his perky, upbeat covers of "Jingle Bells" and "Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer" (he begins the latter in a different fashion by calling out the reindeer names first before the familiar chorus) into fun sing-alongs with his charming and humorous bits of 'yeah!' shouted throughout:

1. Away In A Manger
2. O Little Town Of Bethlehem
3. Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer
4. O Holy Night
5. We Three Kings
6. Jingle Bells
7. The First Noel
8. What Child Is This?
9. O Come All Ye Faithful
10. Silent Night
